Owners Michael & Dionne Roeder

Michael is a native Hoosier, growing up in Indianapolis and graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in Fortville. His first job at 16 years old was at a dog rescue shelter in Indianapolis. He is a 25 year professional firefighter with IFD, and a 3-time Ironman. He enjoys his morning runs with his running partners, Indy, their border collie, and Tank, their husky. Mike served 4 years in the US Coast Guard as a deep sea and rescue diver.

After the Coast Guard, he had his own pool service/maintenance business in California. Back home in Indiana, he owned several small businesses that he operated on his days off from the fire department, including coaching and training their 2 sons in their various sports and running careers.

Mike holds several certifications; including Advanced Dog Socialization, Dog Behavioral Certification, Daycare Management Certification, Pet CPR and First Aid.

Dionne is a born and bred southern Californian, worked 10 years for the Social Security Administration and was a bookkeeper for multiple small businesses. She was self-employed as a franchised Jazzercise instructor for 20 years before opening her private personal training business which she ran out of their Fishers home for 18 years.

Dionne enjoys hiking the state parks trails with the dogs and gardening any time she can! In August of 2014, Mike and Dionne purchased the business of Happy Dogs (formerly Happy, Clean and Smart). They came to experience the business after their own dogs had played and stayed there, in addition to utilizing the grooming and self-bathing.

A message from the owners: We value the trust that you have given us in allowing us to care for your pets. We take that very seriously and our utmost goal is the health and happiness of each and every dog that walks through these doors. We look forward to many happy years with you and your dogs.

The Team

Alison

Store Manager

My name is Alison Lutz. I graduated from Ball State University in 2008 and worked in the Madison County Prosecutor’s Office and County Court System for about seven years. However, I decided to follow my love and passion for dogs. I truly enjoy every day that I am at work. Interacting, training, and playing with the dogs is a great joy! I treat and care for each dog as if they were my own. I currently have five dogs of my own but I can’t have enough!

Kirsten

Front Desk/Customer Service/Daycare Attendant

My name is Kirsten and I recently graduated from Ball State University with a degree in Telecommunications. As a Muncie native, I grew up going to ARF and the Muncie Animal Shelter to visit all of the dogs, wishing I could bring them all home with me. That love of dogs has only grown, and I am happy to find myself at Happy Dogs where I can put that love to good use. While I do not have dogs of my own yet, I am looking forward to when I do. When not working at Happy Dogs, you can find me playing with my cat and my parents dogs, reading a book, or having a good laugh with friends.

Katie

Director of Customer Relations

Hi, my name is Katie and I started working at Happy Dogs in September of 2017. I have always had a passion for animals, but after starting to work for the Muncie animal shelter in 2016, I knew that working with animals was something I wanted to continue to do. I have two dogs, my 4 year old Yorkie, Charlie, and my 2 year old spaniel mix I rescued from the shelter. Without dogs, life would be so boring.

I have volunteered at animal shelters most of my life and have two rescue dogs and five (!) cats of my own. I was the type of kid to bring home stray animals! It's my passion in life to help animals of all kinds and I really enjoy working your dogs.

Hi, my name is Brittany and I’m from Daleville. After graduating from high school I knew I wanted to work with animals and this place gives me many amazing opportunities to see all kinds of dogs. I have a Shih-Tzu of my own named Tiny, and she’s always had a special place in my heart. I can’t wait to continue getting to know everyone and their amazing pets!
