Owners Michael & Dionne Roeder

Michael is a native Hoosier, growing up in Indianapolis and graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in Fortville. His first job at 16 years old was at a dog rescue shelter in Indianapolis. He is a 25 year professional firefighter with IFD, and a 3-time Ironman. He enjoys his morning runs with his running partners, Indy, their border collie, and Tank, their husky. Mike served 4 years in the US Coast Guard as a deep sea and rescue diver.

After the Coast Guard, he had his own pool service/maintenance business in California. Back home in Indiana, he owned several small businesses that he operated on his days off from the fire department, including coaching and training their 2 sons in their various sports and running careers.

He holds several certifications; including Advanced Dog Socialization, Dog Behavioral Certification, Daycare Management Certification, Pet CPR and First Aid.

Dionne is a born and bred southern Californian, worked 10 years for the Social Security Administration and was a bookkeeper for multiple small businesses. She was self-employed as a franchised Jazzercise instructor for 20 years before opening her private personal training business which she ran out of their Fishers home for 18 years.

Dionne enjoys taking the dogs out to the state parks to hike the trails and gardening any time she can! In August of 2014, Mike and Dionne purchased the business of Happy, Clean and Smart (now Happy Dogs). They came to experience the business after their own two dogs, Pre (Australian shepherd) and Indy (border collie) had played and stayed there, in addition to utilizing the grooming and self-bathing.

A message from the owners: We value the trust that you have given us in allowing us to care for your pets. We take that very seriously and our utmost goal is the health and happiness of each and every dog that walks through these doors. We look forward to many happy years with you and your dogs.

My name is Taylor Herr and I was thrilled to join the Happy Dogs team earlier this year. I grew up on a farm outside of New Castle before moving to West Lafayette to go to Purdue University. During my time there, I studied animal behavior and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Animal Sciences in 2016. Now that I have moved back near my hometown and family, I am focusing on growing my career as a dog trainer! My own dogs and I have been working in everything from obedience and tricks to herding and scent work, and we have so many more things to practice and explore. It's great to be surrounded by people who are excited about their pets as I am, and I love that I have the opportunity to pursue my passion while helping others to love their dogs even more.
